Friends Of Old Fort Oliver, Org.
The Old Dream Merchant!
Desert Rat Scrap Books - Etc.

Welcome to the archive of the original mail'zine! See bottom of page for update news.

We need your contributions of images and texts to fill in the holes. [hint, hint...]In fact, if you have a DRSB for sale, please scan it, send me the scans, and I'll post and tag the images appropriately -- the more of each issue scanned, the better, of course.

Better yet, just join the DRSB Forum where you can discuss, post, swap and lie about DRSBs and Olivieriana and stuff pertaining to (south)Western lore and history and artifacts and stuff! Here is the images page at DRSB.

As time allows, additional pages of each Packet I have [asterisks (*) mark issues in my personal collection] will be scanned and posted; the text of the Packets will be posted here; we'll dig up whatever other documents we can find, as well as some peglegs and maybe a desert packrat. We promise. And for another thrill, listen to Harry's record.

The End

The last two DRSBs (12/1 and 12/2) were issued by Bill Powers not Harry Oliver, according to Betty Stohler in A KISS FOR THE DESERT, chapter XIV. Harry sold the enterprise to Bill, and Bill's efforts just weren't up to Harry's level, being entirely reprints. Betty Stohler writes:

The Scrap Book ended shortly after Harry left. "I lost a great number of subscribers from the huge copper state of Arizona," said Bill. "Printed packet's one and two of pouch twelve... quipped as: Only One Lousy Copper Quarter issues."

After eighteen months of living in the fort as soul [sic] owner of the Scrap Book, Bill gave up, and moved away. Its believe [sic] he returned to the sea.

Thanksgiving 2003: More DRSBs; re-shot all covers with digicam; need new scanner.
Moved everything to new server with much more storage space for much more imagery.
Hallowe'en 2002: Acquired more DRSBs, began intensive transcription efforts - whew!
Christmas 1999: Acquired a couple more DRSBs, transcribed text of Packet 1 Pouch 1.
Hallowe'en 1997: Bought a scanner, scanned all my DRSBs, started this site - whew!

Post-Thanksgiving 2003 - Plans:
The DRSB site is now in a new domain, drsb.klaxo.net but all the old main pages on sonic.net will jump here. This is temporary - hopefully it will soon be permanently housed at ibiblio.org, a fine data warehouse of many collections of wonderful stuff. As soon as I get a new scanner, I'll have a window of a few weeks (until mid- or late-January 2004) to scan all my DRSBs (now 39 of the 46 published!) and various other SouthWestern materials and get them posted. After that - ?quien sabe? —Ric
